Writing to Reflect (Recounts / Reflections / Feedback) - We reflect on the work we do and give feedback to others. Reflections can look different than just writing what you did and feedback is more than just saying good job.

Writing to Describe (Information Reports) - Information reports are not the hardest to write, but they do involve other steps, like researching, if we do not know a lot about the thing we are describing.

Writing to Entertain (Narratives and Poetry) - Writing a story, with original characters can be a challenge. As can writing a poem, even if it is only a few short lines. As with any type of writing though, there are some things we can learn that can help us to unleash our creativity and produce a great piece of fiction.

Writing to Explain (Procedures and Explanations) - Like information reports, writing procedures and explanations involves more than just writing.
